The Dayanand Anglo Vedic College Trust and Management Committee was founded by a group dedicated and enlightened persons for eradicating ignorance of illiteracy in 1886. Right from the start, DAV Management was nurtured by selfless and dedicated workers like Mahatma Hansraj, Lala Rajpat Rai, Bhai Parmanand, Bakshi Tekchand, Dr. Meharchand Mahajan, Justice Jeewanlal Kapoor, Dr. G. L. Datta and Lala Suraj Bhan. The DAV Alumni include Shaheed-i-Azam Bhagat Singh, Dr. Meharchand Khurana and other distinguished persons.
The D.A.V. College Managing Committee encompasses a very broad spectrum of educational activities all over India. And we have all over around 900 institutions. These institutions include technical training institutes, Colleges, University, Public Schools and Model Schools all over the country and abroad.
No doubt, a number of private institutions emerged during the last few decades which had professed to work for the total development of the child; but slowly realize that something vital is missing. The products of these schools were cut off from the ancient cultural heritage. D.A.V. institutions retain the man making technique of Public School System and root them in the soil of their culture and civilization.
Having sensed the aspirations of the people, the D.A.V. College Managing Committee, New Delhi-55 had decided to open a chain of quality schools to be seen on public school lines. The D.A.V. Public School at Imphal, Manipur is one of them. DAV Public School, Imphal established in 1991 is a co-educational institution having 10+2 for both Science & Arts.
